In Fame Bureau's June 2 Rock 'n' Roll Circus auction, a left-handed Hofner
violin-shape bass guitar previously owned by Paul McCartney and later given to the
Beatles' original tour manager, the late Mal Evans, sold with its case through
LiveAuctioneers for $19,200.

Edward Bohlin Silver Spurs
Collectors of Western and Native-American art and artifacts eagerly awaited the
opportunity to bid in the June 21-22 Cody Old West Auction. A real showstopper, a
pair of Edward Bohlin silver Indian-head parade spurs in the double-rowel "Tom Mix"
were crafted to the highest possible standard, as they were made for Bohlin's CEO,
Dave Merrill, for promotional and exhibition purposes. Estimated at $5,000-$7,500,
the spurs were purchased through LiveAuctioneers for $11,640.

Sir William Russell Flint Painting
Freeman's June 24 auction of fine American and European paintings included an
exquisite work by Sir William Russell Flint (British, 1880-1969). A watercolor
measuring 27 inches by 20 inches and titled The Balustrade, this 1920 painting,
depicts two young women poolside in an elegant setting, one of them disrobing for a
dip. The piece cam from a private collection in Connecticut. The artwork sold above
estimate for $67,100.

Abstract Painting
Aguttes Auctions, in association with cabinet d\'expertise Dan Coissard, found
success in their June 25 sale of European, Russian and Orientalist paintings with an
André Lanskoy (Russian/French, 1902-1976) oil-on-canvas abstract composition in
varying shades of blue. Artist-signed at lower left, the 19¾ inch by 24 inch work
attracted 16 bids before selling online for $46,452.

Autographed Photograph of Annie Oakley
Cowan's Spring Historic Americana 2007 sale, which ran June 6, 7 and 8, featured an
autographed, full-length silver gelatin photo of legendary sharpshooter Annie
Oakley, taken in 1900 by a Boston photographer. Estimated at $5,000-$6,000, the
wonderful image of young Oakley, wearing an array of medals and holding a shotgun
across her lap, sold online for $13,200.

7 Objects from the Qing Dynasty
Quinn's and Waverly's June 9 sale of Asian Works of Art and Fine & Decorative Art
was especially attractive with the recent decree by Beijing that Qing Dynasty art
and antiques may no longer be exported from China. A lot of 7 Chinese pale celadon
jade objects ranging from a pierced carving of a bird to a lamp finial carved to
replicate a young boy had been entered in the sale with a group estimate of
$150-$200. The selection sold through LiveAuctioneers for an astonishing $14,030.

Batman Comics
Internet bidders seized on opportunities as they presented themselves in Philip
Weiss's diverse June 9 and 10 auction of Civil War, Sports, Autographs & Comic Art.
A LiveAuctioneers bidder scooped up a group of Batman comics, including an unbroken
run of issues from no. 201 through 294, for $2,183 - a very bullish price
considering the estimate was $300-$600.
